“HER” was a labour of nostalgic love that’s been brewing in our brains for quite some time. As femme millennials, we have a complicated relationship with the media from our childhood; the overlying social narrative of what was “beautiful” and acceptable constantly clashed with an emergence of strong female characters who didn't fit into a box.
From Romy and Michelle to Buffy to Heather(s), we’ve been inspired by heroines who exhibited their own form of strength, realness and inexplicable coolness. These characters have inspired a generation of femmes, thems, and people on the fringes to embrace their own beautiful quirks.
Our designs used these amazing characters as inspiration to celebrate femme fashion expression throughout history; iconic 80’s and 90’s fabrics, texture and silhouettes that we re-imagined for the roaring 20’s, the extravagance of the Rococo era, or feminist social movements of the 60’s (just to name a few).
